Lithops 'Living Stones', 2-inch pot

Succulents that look like rocks?  Yes indeed, they are native to S Africa and they are called lithops or 'living stones'.  They are adapted to thrive in bright sunlight , so are well suited to your bright locations and very little water. They are petite plants and the best way to check if they require water is to insert a toothpick and if it comes out dry then it is time.  They need so little water as their fleshy leaves store what they need. You will find they do not need water at all from Novembe to February during the low light months. They will open up and sprout new leaves generally from spring to fall.
