A customer greeted me at the grocery store on a day that was convincingly cold, right in the middle of our frigid Valentine’s day weekend, and she asked, “When do you open (for the season)?” She shared with me that it is when we open that spring has arrived. How lucky we are to have someone liken our annual opening as a sign of a most special season – the one that promises the return to all things awakening, growing and indeed warming. It is encouraging to think that as we hover over the pricey produce aisle this winter season, we can look forward to that first juicy bite of summer, when the first pick of Sun Harvest tomatoes is ready at the end of March – indeed the first sign of a welcome spring!
