Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours?

The Flower Fields are open during regular Garden Centre hours. Last admission is one hour before closing to allow plenty of time for you to enjoy the experience.

The Flower Fields may occasionally close due to severe weather or to allow the flowers time to recover after periods of heavy picking. Please check our social media channels or contact the store directly for current conditions prior to planning your visit.

How many flowers can I pick?

Your admission includes one Sun Harvest picking pitcher to fill with as many flowers as you can fit.

Most flowers are included in the price. Sunflowers, dahlias, and lisianthus are available for an additional $1.00 per stem.

To ensure everyone has a wonderful experience throughout the season, we ask that each guest fills one pitcher per visit.

What flowers will I find?

Our Flower Fields feature more than 60 varieties of annual flowers, with thousands of plants blooming throughout the season.

The selection changes as different varieties come into bloom, so every visit offers something new. Beginning in late July, you'll also find rows of cheerful sunflowers lighting up the field.

When is the best time to visit?

Morning or cooler days provide the best flower-picking conditions and help your bouquet stay fresh longer. While the garden remains open throughout the day, flowers picked during the heat of the afternoon may have a slightly shorter vase life.

What should I bring?

We provide everything you need for picking, including clippers and a picking pitcher.

Please bring your own container or bucket to transport your flowers home. We can add fresh water before you leave to help keep your bouquet fresh for the drive.

On warm days, we also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and water. Cold drinks are available for purchase in the Garden Centre.

How can I make my flowers last longer?

For the longest vase life: harvest flowers during the cooler parts of the day whenever possible, choose blooms that are just beginning to open, remove any leaves that will sit below the water line, trim the stems before arranging them in a clean vase, and change the water every day or two.

With proper care, most bouquets will last 7 to 10 days.

Can I visit without picking flowers?

Absolutely! Guests are welcome to stroll through the Flower Fields and enjoy the beauty of the gardens at no charge. Only those creating a bouquet pay the picking fee.

Can children visit?

Yes! The Flower Fields are a wonderful family outing. Children are welcome and often love exploring the flowers and spotting butterflies throughout the garden.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes! Friendly dogs are welcome provided they remain on a leash at all times. Please remember to clean up after your pet so everyone can enjoy the gardens.

Can groups visit?

Absolutely. Groups are welcome. Please check in at the Garden Centre upon arrival so our staff can provide a brief orientation before you head to the fields.

Can I take photos?

Of course! The Flower Fields make a beautiful backdrop for family photos and memorable summer moments. We'd love to see your pictures. Tag @sunharvest_greenhouses on social media.

At this time, professional photography sessions are not permitted without prior permission.

Can I use my own container for picking?

To keep the experience consistent for all guests, all flowers must be picked into the pitchers we provide. You're welcome to bring your own container to transfer your bouquet into before heading home.

Can I cut flowers for my wedding?

We don't offer bulk wedding flower harvesting or wedding floristry services. If you're looking for flowers for a wedding, we're happy to recommend talented local flower farms and floral designers.

If you'd simply like to celebrate with friends or family by visiting the Flower Fields together, we'd love to welcome your group to enjoy the experience.

Are washrooms available?

Yes. Washrooms are available inside our Garden Centre. Just ask one of our team members and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
