Garden Centre Retail Associate

Type: Part time, seasonal

About the role: This position will see you as a valuable part of our retail team, assisting with the merchandising and sale of the plants, produce  and other products that we carry. You will have a strong work ethic, reinforced by a keen attention to detail while performing your job. You will share your creative aptitude while working with our team to deliver a fantastic customer experience by building the Sun Harvest brand, both online and instore.

For this position, hours will vary according to our annual retail cycle. This seasonal position starts immediately and ends when we close following the Christmas season in mid-December. Weekends and holidays are required. 

Experience:

·         Prior retail, agricultural or garden centre work experience is an asset

Worksite environment:

·         Retail environment

·         Greenhouse farm environment

·         Wet/damp/humid

·         Hot/Cold

·         Non-smoking

Responsibilities:

·         Delivering exceptional customer service both instore and online

·         Operate POS systems, process transactions

·         Receive and process online orders using our ecommerce platform

·         Maintain the health and appearance of live plants in the garden centre

·         Receive and process live plants including floral products

·         Assist with the display and merchandising of live plants, produce and giftware

·         Ensure the smooth operation and regular cleaning of the instore coffee kiosk

·         General retail housekeeping

·         Sort, grade & packaging of produce in accordance with food safety procedures

·         Assist with workshops& events and manage registrations ( using /excel software)  hosted by Sun Harvest

·         Assist our production teams as needed

·         Working knowledge of plants and gardening – or a willingness and ability to learn quickly.
