Job Description:
Sun Harvest Greenhouses is seeking a full-time retail and marketing associate for our 4 season garden centre, Kingston’s leading garden centre destination! If you are looking for an “on your feet” job, are keen to deliver excellent customer service, are excited about ‘marketing’ healthy and happy lifestyles through gardening, and have an interest in plants, please read on!
This full-time position will see you as a valuable part of our retail team, assisting with the merchandising and sale of the plants and other products that we carry. Unique responsibilities within this role also include working with the owner to execute marketing plans including social media and website content. You will possess an understanding and appreciation for the needs of a ‘connected’ customer who uses many online tools when making their purchasing decisions. You will have a strong work ethic, reinforced by a keen attention to detail while performing your job. You will share your creative aptitude while working with our team to deliver a fantastic customer experience by building the Sun Harvest brand, both online and instore.
This is a fulltime seasonal position, meaning hours will vary according to our annual retail cycle. Full time work begins when we prepare to open our retail store for the year in February and ends when we close following the Christmas season in mid-December. Peak season occurs from April through June, where additional hours are available. Weekends and holidays are required.
Education:
Post-secondary training in marketing/creative design is an asset
Experience:
Prior retail, agricultural or garden centre work experience is an asset

Responsibilities:
Delivering exceptional customer service both instore and online
Operate POS systems, process transactions
Receive and process online orders using our ecommerce platform
Maintain the health and appearance of live plants in the garden centre
General retail housekeeping
Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing plans and campaigns
Collaborate with the owners, retail, and production teams to create engaging and creative content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and other relevant channels)
Creating and editing visual content including photography and videography for website, in-store materials, and social media (Instagram, Facebook)
Analysis and reporting of social media performance and trends.
Update website content, including text and images as required.
Assist in the creation of instore signage and regular email campaigns.
Knowledge / Skills / Personal Attributes:
Excellent customer service skills
Open communication style, accepting of feedback
Working knowledge of plants and gardening – or a willingness and ability to learn quickly.
Ability to multitask and juggle shifting priorities, maintaining flexibility to adapt and revise plans in a dynamic environment
A genuine passion for social media and trend discovery, with a strong enjoyment of working on various platforms.
Skilled with graphic design, photography and/or videography is an asset
Ability to productively use Microsoft office applications is required
Experience utilizing social media in a business environment is an asset
Experience working with Shopify, Mailchimp, Google Analytics or other ecommerce/marketing platforms is an asset

Job description:
Sun Harvest Greenhouses is seeking a fulltime greenhouse production worker whose primary responsibilities will relate to the growing of and caring for greenhouse & field grown crops. Specific tasks will vary from day to day according to the needs of the season, but this constant change in activity brings much excitement to our work as growers. One day you may be harvesting hydroponic vegetables and the next you may be transplanting flowers into hanging basket combinations. A green thumb is not required, but a willingness to learn, attention to detail and ability to work a busy day on your feet is.
This is a fulltime seasonal position, meaning hours will vary according to our annual production cycles. Full time work begins at the beginning of February, and ends in mid-December. Peak season occurs from April through June, where weekly hours will exceed 40 hrs per week, including weekends and holidays when required.

Irrigating of plants and maintenance of irrigation systems such as hoses, drippers, misters, sprinklers.
Maintaining greenhouse cleanliness & hygiene, using pressure washers, mechanical cleaning equipment and sanitizing procedures
Potting, transplanting, sticking & seeding of plants, cuttings & liners
Identify and report signs of insect or disease damage
Moving, spacing and organizing plants in both production and retail environments
Seasonal holiday decor production which will include fresh cut greenery arrangements
