Job description:

Sun Harvest Greenhouses is seeking a fulltime greenhouse production worker whose primary responsibilities will relate to the growing of and caring for greenhouse & field grown crops. Specific tasks will vary from day to day according to the needs of the season, but this constant change in activity brings much excitement to our work as growers. One day you may be harvesting hydroponic vegetables and the next you may be transplanting flowers into hanging basket combinations. A green thumb is not required, but a willingness to learn, attention to detail and ability to work a busy day on your feet is.

This is a fulltime seasonal position, meaning hours will vary according to our annual production cycles. Full time work begins at the beginning of February, and ends in mid-December. Peak season occurs from April through June, where weekly hours will exceed 40 hrs per week, including weekends and holidays when required.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Hand harvesting fruits & vegetables
• Sorting, grading & packaging of produce in accordance with food safety procedures
• Pruning, trellising, supporting, weeding and general care of greenhouse & field grown crops
• Irrigating of plants and maintenance of irrigation systems such as hoses, drippers, misters, sprinklers.
• Maintaining greenhouse cleanliness & hygiene, using pressure washers, mechanical cleaning equipment and sanitizing procedures
• Potting, transplanting, sticking & seeding of plants, cuttings & liners
• Identify and report signs of insect or disease damage
• Moving, spacing and organizing plants in both production and retail environments
• Seasonal holiday decor production which will include fresh cut greenery arrangements
