Praying Mantis Cocoon

Praying Mantis are general predators that feed on aphids, beetles, caterpillars, cinch bugs, Colorado potato beetles, leaf hoppers, hornworms, leafrollers, squash bugs, thrips and white flies.

Praying mantis are sent to you as an egg case.  Your egg case contains many eggs that will hatch into youg praying mantis.  Attacj egg case using mesh bag onto a plant, shrub or tree, 1-1.5 m above ground.  Tiny mantis will hatchin 1-8 weeks. All mantis will disperse within 1-2 hours, leaving the egg case visibly unchanged.  One egg case will be effective in an area up to 1000 sq ft- 90 m2.  Each mantis will set up its own territory where it will live for the summer.  They are very difficult to find in the garden because they are well camouflaged.  Later in the summer they will fly to find a mate and this is often when they are seen.  Also as the weather cools they will sit out in the sun to warm themselves.  ** Refrigerating will delay hatching until the appropriate season **
